Several wonderful gentlemen I knew died recently. They were valiant in the final battle of their physical lives. They leave behind caring families and friends. It’s very sad and sometimes very hard to smile when we experience loss like this.
There are a few things to smile about though – the memory of their laughter, their example, their unending faith. The other thing that makes me smile, albeit with a tear in my eye, is the outpouring of love and concern from people all over the world. The ability to communicate with others so quickly enables us to express our sympathies and our love almost immediately.
Knowing that so many reach out in whatever way they can to help those who are grieving makes me smile.
